{"id":1787,"date":"2026-06-11T09:50:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T09:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yacsomerset.co.uk\/?p=1787"},"modified":"2026-06-26T10:57:55","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T10:57:55","slug":"4th-july-visit-to-brean-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yacsomerset.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/06\/11\/4th-july-visit-to-brean-down\/","title":{"rendered":"4th July &#8211; Visit to Brean Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Our next session will be on Saturday 4th July and will be a visit to the dramatic Brean Down headland near Burnham on Sea.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Please email to book your place.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The visit is being organised for us by Ian Blake from the National Trust.\u00a0 Ian visited us last November to talk to us about all the amazing archaeology on the headland, ranging from prehistory, to Roman, Napoleonic and up to WWII.\u00a0 We now have the opportunity to visit all these amazing sites!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We will meet at 10.30am at\u00a0the Cove Caf\u00e9 car park at the base of the Down. This is a pay and display car park although parking is free for National Trust members (though you still need to register your car at the machine).\u00a0 Post code TA8 2RS.\u00a0 There are toilets in the car park.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I am waiting to hear from Ian about what time we will be back at the car park after our guided walk and will let everyone know asap.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>PLEASE NOTE:\u00a0 There is a very steep climb up steps to the top of the headland which is almost 100m high.\u00a0 The walk we will be going on is approximately 3 miles.\u00a0 If you have any concerns, e.g. health issues which means you might not be able to manage this please think twice about attending.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Please bring:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Sensible footwear such as trainers or walking boots<\/div>\n<div>Packed lunch and snacks<\/div>\n<div>Plenty to drink<\/div>\n<div>Sun hat and sun cream.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If the weather changes dramatically for the worse we may cancel as there is no shelter on the headland so keep an eye on your emails.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our next session will be on Saturday 4th July and will be a visit to the dramatic Brean Down headland near Burnham on Sea.
