{"id":1795,"date":"2026-06-30T12:41:50","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T12:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yacsomerset.co.uk\/?p=1795"},"modified":"2026-09-02T07:06:34","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T07:06:34","slug":"12th-september-test-pitting-at-marsdon-magnar-near-yeovil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yacsomerset.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/06\/30\/12th-september-test-pitting-at-marsdon-magnar-near-yeovil\/","title":{"rendered":"12th September &#8211; Test pitting at Marsdon Magnar near Yeovil"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Our next MAYA session will be on Saturday 12th September (Please note that for this session it will be the SECOND Saturday of the month not the first as usual).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The session will be an all-day test pitting day starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm.\u00a0 It will be at the site of the old school house in Marston Magna which is a village on the A359 northeast of Yeovil and about 5km to the east of Yeovilton Air Base Museum.\u00a0 Address is Old Rectory House, Marston Magna, Yeovil BA22 8DT.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The day is being run for us by Anne Teather and Andrew Chamberlain from Past Participate, a company that specialises in landscape research projects for volunteers.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Anne has advised us that despite what your Sat Nav may tell you, the best route is to stick to the main roads ( A303 to Sparkford and then A359 through Queen Camel towards Yeovil) and not take the country lanes.\u00a0 Anne has sent us some graphics, one showing how to get to Marston Magna, an aerial view of their house, and their drive entrance.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Unfortunately MAYA cannot supply transport but there is room to drop off and pick up in Annes&#8217;s drive.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>You will need to bring:<\/div>\n<div>Sturdy footwear<\/div>\n<div>Warm and waterproof clothing or sunhat and sun cream depending on the weather<\/div>\n<div>Snacks and a packed lunch<\/div>\n<div>Drinks<\/div>\n<div>Gardening gloves<\/div>\n<div>Garden kneeler if you have one<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This is a great opportunity to get stuck into some real excavation so if you haven&#8217;t already done so please email to book your place!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Liz and the MAYA Team<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our next MAYA session will be on Saturday 12th September (Please note that for this session it will be the SECOND Saturday of the month not the first as usual).
