3rd March – Fieldwork activity day

Meet at Stogursey Village Hall for a morning of studying maps and artefacts from Fairfield Manor House.  Then an afternoon of practical fieldwork at the Manor itself studying and recording the House and Gardens.

10.30am at Stogursey Village Hall, 31 Town Close, Bridgwater, TA5 1RN.

3rd Feb – Cave art

The earliest paintings people ever made are over 35,000 years old! What did they paint, how did they paint it and why? Make your own rock art to take home!

30th September: MAYA Family Archaeology Day

MAYA Family Archaeology Day at the Museum of Somerset in conjunction with the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society. Finds handling and identification, tours around Taunton Castle, sand pit dig and lots more!

Time: 10:30am – 4pm

29th July – Geophysical Survey at Montacute House

The South Somerset Archaeological Research Group (SSARG), in conjunction with the National Trust and Mick Aston’s Young Archaeologists, will be continuing their geophysical survey of the gardens at Montacute House as part of the Council for British Archaeology’s annual Festival of Archaeology. Timed to coincide with the Farmers Market, members of the public will be able to freely access the grounds and have a go at carrying out a resistivity survey.

Time: 11am – 4pm
