Meet at Stogursey Village Hall for a morning of studying maps and artefacts from Fairfield Manor House. Then an afternoon of practical fieldwork at the Manor itself studying and recording the House and Gardens.

MAYA helper Caroline Pathy Barker will tell us about the treasures of the Japanese past and how we can use online resources to explore them. Learn how to make Japanese-style archaeological pottery!

MAYA Family Archaeology Day at the Museum of Somerset in conjunction with the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society. Finds handling and identification, tours around Taunton Castle, sand pit dig and lots more!

The South Somerset Archaeological Research Group (SSARG), in conjunction with the National Trust and Mick Aston’s Young Archaeologists, will be continuing their geophysical survey of the gardens at Montacute House as part of the Council for British Archaeology’s annual Festival of Archaeology. Timed to coincide with the Farmers Market, members of the public will be able to freely access the grounds and have a go at carrying out a resistivity survey.

Andrew Butcher is an expert on Medieval manuscripts and in his studies has come across some surprises! Find out about the Medieval sense of humour and the hidden jokes and cartoons in ancient manuscripts.
Julian Richards from TV’s Meet the Ancestors returns! Julian is one of the county’s leading experts on Stonehenge and wrote English Heritage’s Stonehenge Guide Book. Learn all about England’s most famous prehistoric monument and have a go at building a Stonehenge of our own!
